When you need it
Corner guards help once baby starts pulling up, cruising and taking first steps, often somewhere between 6 and 12 months. They stay useful until around age 3, when kids are steadier on their feet and less likely to stumble into a coffee table.
What to look for
Look for soft, thick guards that cover the whole corner and stay put. Strong adhesive matters, because toddlers will pick at them, and a guard that peels off can become a choking hazard. Clear or color-matched guards blend in better with furniture. Focus on corners at toddler head height, like coffee tables, TV stands and fireplace hearths, and edge strips for long sharp edges.
