When you need it

A walker wagon helps from around 10 months, once babies pull up and want to push things around. After walking clicks, it turns into a cart for blocks, dolls and toys, and many toddlers still use it this way at around 30 months.

What to look for

Choose a wagon with a wide base and a low center of gravity so it doesn't tip when leaned on. Rubber-rimmed wheels are gentler on floors and slow it down a little. A sturdy handle at a comfortable height and smooth, rounded edges matter more than looks. Wooden blocks that come with it should be large and non-toxic.

Walker Wagon: common questions

Do I need a walker wagon?
It's a nice-to-have. If you already have a push walker, you may not need both. Some families prefer a wagon because it lasts longer as a toy cart after the first steps.
When does a baby need a walker wagon?
From around 10 months, when babies start pulling up, through about 2 and a half years.
