When you need it
Training pants become useful once your child starts potty training, often from around 2 years. Many families stop using them around 4 years, when children stay dry during the day and sometimes at night.
What to look for
Look for pants that pull up and down easily so your child can practice doing it alone. Disposable options have tear-away sides for quick cleanup, while reusable cloth training pants have a padded layer that lets kids feel wetness. Check sizing by weight and waist fit, and make sure leg openings are snug without pinching. Washable versions should dry quickly so you are not short on pairs.
