When you need it

Sticker books click with most children around 24 months, when they have the fine motor skills to peel a sticker and place it on a page. Younger toddlers may need help lifting the edges. They stay a favorite through the preschool years, often until around 60 months, as kids start making scenes and stories.

What to look for

Look for large, thick stickers that are easy to peel for younger kids, and puffy or reusable stickers that can be moved around. Reusable books with glossy backgrounds last much longer. Choose themes your child already loves, such as animals, vehicles or food. Watch younger children closely, since small stickers can end up in mouths.
